Anders, Chloe, and Yu Fan were nominated to represent Singapore at the ASEAN Children's Workshop: "Children Shaping Tomorrow"— bringing together youth aged 12–18 from across ASEAN and Timor-Leste to shape the region's future. They were accompanied by Taufiq, a staff member from Singapore Children's Society and Jolynn, a representative from the Ministry of Social and Family Development.
The workshop is a child-led platform that embodies ASEAN's vision of a people-centred community — one where children don't just benefit from regional development, but actively participate in it. Grounded in ASEAN's three policy pillars and children's rights frameworks, the workshop covered themes ranging from child rights and education to climate action, security, and inclusive policymaking.
Over the course of the workshop, participants shared ideas, built leadership skills, and connected across cultures — turning their voices into a Children's Statement and concrete policy recommendations for ASEAN.
Reflecting on the trip, Anders mentioned:
"Representing Singapore as a delegate to help shape the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 was an incredibly enriching experience! Above all, it showed me the profound grace found in genuine dialogue with other youths from around the world! It is through open, heartfelt dialogue that we truly discover and reflect on the whole truth, the inherent beauty of others, and a shared goodness that unites us all."
